After the collaboration was presented in April, the Nordic home appliance chain Skousen and Swedish Kökscentrum are now ready to celebrate the opening of 13 stores under the shared name Skousen Kökscentrum.
On Thursday 22 October, 13 Swedish home appliance stores are officially opening under the name Skousen Kökscentrum. The stores, which were previously part of the Elon chain, continue with the same knowledgeable employees and strong local roots.
Through the collaboration, Kökscentrum gains access to Whiteaway Group’s Nordic organisation and a broader range, while the Swedish stores continue to offer the personal advice and service they are known for.
“The collaboration strengthens what we are already good at. We have a strong organisation and a stable customer base, and together with Skousen we gain access to specialist expertise and a strong Nordic purchasing organisation. This gives us the opportunity to offer customers a broader range and a more complete solution, while we keep our local stores, our employees and the personal service,” says Tommy Leifsson, CEO of Kökscentrum.
Strengthening the position in Sweden
Skousen’s establishment in Sweden is part of Whiteaway Group’s Nordic growth strategy. The group already has a significant presence in Sweden through the online store Tretti.se, which accounts for around a quarter of Swedish online sales of large home appliances. Through the new collaboration, the group now also gains a physical store network in the Swedish market.
“Through Tretti.se, we already have a strong online position in Sweden, built on the best possible personal service. Now we are taking it all the way, into the physical channel as well, and meeting the customers who want advice face to face and want to make their purchases in store. Skousen is a proven store concept where knowledge and personal advice are at the centre,” says Henrik Hedlund, Managing Director Sweden, Whiteaway Group.

Local expertise and Nordic economies of scale
Skousen was founded in Denmark in 1957 and has since grown into a nationwide chain. In 2011, Skousen became part of Whiteaway Group, and since then the chain has expanded to Norway and now also Sweden. With the 13 Swedish stores, Skousen now has more than 90 stores in Scandinavia.
For Kökscentrum, which has an established customer base among both private and business customers, the ambition is to keep its existing customers while attracting new ones.
“We will combine the best of both companies. Over many years, Kökscentrum has built strong local customer relationships, while Skousen contributes experience from a large Scandinavian store network. That combination will strengthen our competitiveness in the Swedish market and give customers an even better experience,” emphasises Tommy Leifsson.
The official opening of the 13 Skousen Kökscentrum stores takes place on Thursday 22 October in the following locations: Malmö, Lund, Landskrona, Helsingborg (Väla and Råå), Halmstad, Växjö, Nybro, Kalmar, Jönköping, Stockholm (Sveavägen), Nacka (Sickla) and Sollentuna.
